Schifflersgrund was the first German Border Museum in Germany.
It was opened after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The "Arbeitskreis Grenz-Information e.V." had collected military vehicles and helicopters which were patrolling and flying along the inner German border.
The focusses of our exhibition are: the "Agreement of Wanfried", original border barriers, the documentation on the structure and development of the inner German border, the escape attempt of Heinz-Josef Große, the shots on Wahlshausen, the military equipment from East and West on the former border, a documentary about the border crossing Bardo/Herleshausen near Eisenach and the Green Belt.
